Henry is a North American manufacturer of building envelope systems, air/vapor barrier, roofing and waterproofing systems designed for residential, institutional, high-rise multi-family and commercial use. Henry is a private company and a subsidiary of Graham Partners. Henry has been providing building solutions for more than 75 years. The company is headquartered in El Segundo, California with manufacturing facilities and offices throughout the country and Canada.

Corporate History

Henry Company was founded in 1981 with its roots in Southern California. It then became a national supplier of air and vapor barrier, roofing and waterproofing products designed for residential and commercial use. In 1998, Henry company acquired Monsey Bakor Inc., a manufacturer of roofing, driveway maintenance and cement products. The acquisition expanded the company’s reach across North America.

In February 2010, Henry announced the launch of their new product Blueskin VP™ which integrated the technical performance of a commercial air barrier system along with the application of a traditional house wrap, eliminating the need for a mechanical fastening. In November, in the same year, Henry was the first company to integrate antimicrobial agents with air barriers.

In June 2012, Henry Company was acquired by investors led by Graham Partners along with other co-investors which included OceanBridge Partners, a private equity firm. In September 2014, Henry acquired West Development Group which specialized in silicone and spray polyurethane foam roofing technologies.

On October 06, 2016, Henry was acquired by American Securities LLC, a U.S private equity firm. In January 2017, Henry announced the renewal of its ISO 9001: 2008 certification for its manufacturing plants located in Canada for an additional three years. In June, in the same year, Henry acquired TQ3 North America, Inc. A company specializing in waterproofing systems.

Credentialing

Henry Company considers third-party certifications and credentialing as a significant component of its products and systems.

UL (Underwriters Laboratories) certifies that Henry roofing assemblies and roof restoration systems conform to building code and project specification requirements for fire resistance.

FM Approvals (Factory Mutual) certifies that Henry roofing assemblies and roof restoration systems comply with building codes and project specification requirements for wind uplift, hail, fire and foot traffic resistance.

The CRRC (Cool Roof Rating Council) certification mark certifies products with measured values listed in the CRRC online rated products directory.

ICC-ED (International Code Council-Evaluation Service) certifies that Henry roofing underlayments, spray foam insulation and water-resistive air barriers comply with the building codes and standards.

Miami-Dade County Product Control certifies that Henry’s waterproofing, roof restoration systems, coatings, spray foam insulation, adhesives and roofing cement comply with the Florida Building Code for the High Velocity Hurricane Zone.

Florida Building Commission (FBC) certifies that Henry’s roofing and waterproofing systems and accessories validate to comply with the Florida Building Code (FBC).

The ENERGY STAR certification label certifies that Henry’s products have been investigated by a third-party evaluator and comply with ENERGY STAR’s standards.

The ISO 9001:2008 certification renewal certifies that Henry continues to maintain quality in their product manufacturing and service.

Product Lines

Henry specializes in building envelope systems and roofing and waterproofing products.

Roofing Systems:

  • SBS Modified Bitumen- Designed to withstand factors affecting roofs like weather, water etc.
  • Self-Adhered Membranes- Used to simplify roof installations
  • Built-Up Roofing- Consist of fiberglass and asphalt coated sheets and can be used for hot-or cold-applied applications
  • Hot Rubberized Asphalt- Used to provide a fully bonded, monolithic roofing and waterproofing membrane
  • Liquid-Applied Roofing- Moisture cure, cold-applied, polymer modified compound used to provide a fully bonded, monolithic roofing and waterproofing membrane

Roofing Underlayments:

Consist of self-adhering roof underlayments that are applied under metal or tile shingles. These underlayments are used in varied climates and provide waterproofing protection.

Reflective and Protective Coatings:

Henry’s reflective ENERGY STAR- rated reflective coatings are used to reflect heat and UV rays off the roof. Protective coatings are used for waterproofing and fume protection.

Fabrics and Reinforcements:

Made of woven open-mesh glass filaments or polyester and used as maintenance products to protect the roof.

Roof-Restoration Systems:

Liquid-applied restoration systems are used for re-roofing and weatherproofing and consist of sealants, coatings, primers, cement and mastics. Coatings consist of silicone, acrylic and aluminum and are used for roof repair.

Besides Henry’s roofing range, the company also provides air-barrier systems, waterproofing systems, vegetative roof assembly, spray foam insulation, driveway sealers, performance additives and residential building envelope solutions.

Environmental Impact

Henry is a member of the American Coatings Association (ACA) and is committed to environmental health. Henry supports Coating Care Principles that aid in a cleaner and safer workplace.

Henry warrants that their products are free of defects and since there are many contributing factors that can affect results from their products, they are all beyond their control. With a proof of purchase, Henry promises to replace any product that has a material defect provided it had been applied according to the company’s standards within 12-months of purchase at no charge.
