TAMKO Shingles

TAMKO Building Products, Inc. manufactures roofing products for residential and commercial applications. TAMKO is a family run, privately held company and is headquartered in Joplin, Missouri.

Corporate History

E.L. Craig started a roofing business out of streetcar barn in 1944. His wife named the company TAMKO using the first letter of the five states they foresaw as their sales territory – Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma. The company is still controlled by his family, with his daughter, Ethelmae Humphreys, serving as chairman. In 1994 the company name was changed to TAMKO Roofing Products, Inc., and in 2006 the company became known as TAMKO Building Products, Inc.

Credentialing

Contractors are encouraged to become part of the TAMKO Pro Certified Contractor program. Benefits of the program include marketing materials, lead generation tools, discounts, and enhanced warranties. The TAMKO Pro Certified Contractors app is designed to help contractors organize their business materials and offer warranty enhancement to homeowners. 

Product Lines

TAMKO shingles are available in many styles and colors. There are 5 lines of asphalt shingles – Heritage, Heritage Premium, Heritage Woodgate, Heritage Vintage, and Elite Glass Seal. They also offer 3 lines of steel shingles – MetalWorks StoneCrest Slate, MetalWorks StoneCrest Tile, and MetalWorks AstonWood.

Warranty

The TAMKO warranty varies according to product. Asphalt shingles are covered by a warranty ranging from 300 to 600 months, with a wind warranty period of 5 to 15 years and an algae cleaning warranty of 120 months. MetalWorks shingles are covered by a 50-year limited warranty.
