Allmet Roofing Products: Historical Profile
Allmet sold stone-coated steel roofing for steep-slope residential and commercial buildings. The panels used bonded mineral granules and profiles intended to resemble tile, slate, shake, or asphalt shingles.
Current-status note: RoofingCompare could not verify an active Allmet manufacturer, product catalog, installer program, or claims office in 2026. This page preserves historical product and warranty information for owners identifying an existing roof. It should not be read as proof that a product, color, approval, contact channel, or new warranty remains available.
Corporate History
Dura-Loc Roofing Systems Limited was established in 1984—not approximately 75 years before the original version of this profile. A Metals USA filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission says Metals USA purchased Dura-Loc’s assets and operations in 2006 and changed the trade name to Allmet in 2007.
Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co. acquired Metals USA in 2013. However, Reliance reported that it sold Metals USA’s non-core roofing business in May 2014. Allmet therefore should not be described as a current Reliance subsidiary. An authoritative current owner or successor could not be established from the records reviewed.
Installer Training
Older Allmet materials referred to manufacturer training and “Allmet Approved Contractors.” No maintained program source was available in 2026, so the former course length, class size, eligibility, and current contractor status should not be assumed.
Owners of an existing Allmet roof should use a contractor experienced with stone-coated steel and ask the current warranty administrator—if one can be verified—whether repairs require prior approval. Training or program membership does not itself guarantee installation quality.
Historical Product Lines
An archived Allmet warranty names products including Continental, Shadowline, Wood Shake, Talavera, Ridgewood, Tudor Slate, Guardian Shingle, and Granite Ridge. Former literature described profiles such as:
- Wood Shake: stone-coated steel panels shaped to resemble wood shakes.
- Continental: an S-shaped profile intended to resemble Mediterranean barrel tile.
- Granite Ridge: a stone-coated steel shingle profile intended to resemble dimensional asphalt shingles.
Do not rely on the former fixed color lists, weights, over-roof installation claims, or performance statements without identifying the exact panel and obtaining its technical documentation. ENERGY STAR sunset its roof-products specification on June 1, 2022, so old “Energy Star approved” color claims are no longer current certifications.
Fire, Wind, and Hail Claims
Archived Allmet literature advertised Class A fire-rated systems, 120 mph wind coverage, and hail-penetration coverage. These statements need important limits:
- Fire: Class A applies to a tested roof assembly under ASTM E108 or UL 790. A metal panel alone does not establish the deck, underlayment, and installed assembly’s classification.
- Wind: A warranty wind speed is not a substitute for building-code wind design or proof that every roof component will withstand every storm.
- Hail: The archived warranty referred to penetration by hailstones smaller than 2.5 inches that made a panel no longer weatherproof. It did not promise that panels would avoid dents or cosmetic damage.
Warranty for Existing Allmet Roofs
A preserved 2010 Allmet limited warranty described coverage for the original purchaser’s lifetime while that purchaser owned the property, or 50 years from installation after a transfer. “Lifetime” and “50 years” were therefore not interchangeable terms.
The archived contract said covered panels would be free from specified manufacturing defects, subject to exclusions. It allowed normal weathering, aging, and minor granule loss. For a valid claim, Allmet could choose repair or replacement; the document reviewed does not support a blanket promise that every cost, including installation, was covered for the first 20 years.
The preserved warranty also required notice within 30 days after a defect was discovered or reasonably should have been discovered and excluded certain damage from improper installation or unapproved modification. The former website, email, telephone number, and online registration channel could not be verified as operational.
If you own an Allmet roof, keep the warranty certificate, invoice, product labels, installation records, photographs, and repair history. Verify the current claims administrator before sending personal information or authorizing work. Do not let a contractor alter the roof until you have checked whether the warranty issued for your installation requires approval.
