"My Metal Roof Review"
Youngs Roofing installed the Venetian gold metal roof on this home just before we bought it four years ago, and the owners gave us the paperwork. We love this roofing material, as we've never had a metal roof before. It has weathered two hurricanes just this year -- Florence and Michael -- that brought heavy winds and rain to our area, and our home has no damage or leaks. We are surrounded with pecan trees, and the roof took a beating with limbs, and still did not fail. The temperature differential from the first to the second floor was eliminated. The cooling costs were reduced based on what they were for this property, historically. We have had no need for any repairs. We have had visitors ask what kind of roof we have because they liked the appearance. Home owner insurance also gives a discount for the metal roof because of its fireproof rating and wind rating. The roof was installed in the summer of 2015. We reported an issue of rusting nails in the flashing in March 2017 with the unusual weather, varying between warm and cold. Within a day of contacting Youngs, an inspector came out to assess the matter, and it was handled promptly. We previously had a cedar shingle roof on another house, and worried that this metal roof might be noisy when it rained, but it is actually a lot quieter than the shingles were.
