"Solar roofs are the way to go!"
I replaced my 3-tab shingle with the DecoTech solar-powered roof last June, and I couldn't be happier! It has decreased my energy bills like expected, but it's also taken care of the severe ice damning (icicles) problem that I had for years prior. The company that installed it is amongst GAF's "Master Elite" contracting program, and I couldn't be happier with the quality of installation and materials! I'm also comforted by the fact that the roof is warrantied for the next 50 years, and that if Performance Residential Remodeling (the company that installed it) should go out of business, then the manufacturer will send out another credentialed company to fix it! Also I was surprised at the low-cost-some of my friends with comparable roof sizes spent basically the same thing for their regular shingles. Not only doesit improve my house, but it's also good for the environment: overall, a total win/win!
